Day 1

At 8am, we will pick you from our office (or from your hotel or guesthouse, if going in a private group) and take you to Villa Treasure, our guesthouse and adventure travel dispatch point. There, you will be given a bicycle and helmet. Our guide will help you make any necessary adjustments to the bicycle to ensure your comfort and ease of riding.
At this point, you can place any belongings that you would like to have with you for the day (but not carry yourself) in our support vehicle, which will never be too far away in case you need something from it, or would like to take a break from biking.

As soon as everyone is ready, we will set off biking out of the city. Once we leave the city center, we’ll bike beside the airport runway, passing the local military training facilities and cemetery, one of only two graveyards in Luang Prabang.
After we have looped around the airport, our first visit will be to Ban Had Hien, the blacksmith village. This village makes all sorts of metal goods, and sells them throughout the province. You’ll likely be able to watch people crafting knives and hoes and other farming tools. If you look closely, you may recognize that the villagers use pieces of bombs leftover from the war as part of the process.
We continue on a packed dirt road for the rest of our day’s journey, stopping in several different farming villages. We will pass many forests and rice paddies along the way to our next stop. After 18 kilometers from our starting point, we’ll find ourselves in Ban Phik Nyai, a Thai Lue village.
Here, we will find a nice place to eat our picnic lunch. An open air sala would be the perfect spot, with respite from the sun and overlooking a beautiful rice paddy. After you are sufficiently rested, we will continue on for another 5 kilometers to Ban Nathan, a Lao Loum village, the dominant ethnic group in Laos. 2 kilometers down the road, we can visit a Youan village called Ban Khokvan, whose inhabitants also rely heavily on farming as a means of income.
Our last stop is 7 kilometers further, in Ban Pak Xiung, another Lao Loum village. Here, you can decide if you would like to put your feet up and ride in our support vehicle back to Luang Prabang, or continue biking the paved road the final 16 kilometers home. Once back in town, you will dropped off at your hotel or guesthouse. Reward yourself with a BeerLao after a long day of exercise!
